Backyard Barbeques Buzzing with Pests?

If your outdoor feast turns into a mosquito buffet, use these tips.

by MIKE HALL, Owner/Agent/Broker

Louisville is lots of fun in the summer from cookouts to Forecastle, spending time outdoors is a must for this city.

But with time spent in nature, you also invite the bugs that bite. From mosquitos to no-see-ums, getting bit is no fun and itchy. You can help protect your backyard with a couple tricks:
1. Spray an insect repellant. You can find these at about any Louisville hardware store. Just hook it up to your hose and spray your yard. The product claims to last 60 to 90 days.

2. Use an oscillating fan. Forget the citronella candle, a good, old fan keeps mosquitos at bay better than the melting wax.

3. Keep your Louisville lawn mowed. Just having shorter grass helps fend off ticks.
