Deck the Halls
With Love and Charity
by MIKE HALL, Owner/Broker/Agent
Tis the season to take a moment, recognize your blessings, and pay it forward by giving to others. There are several charities in the area that are looking for your help this holiday season.
Big Momma’s, a soul food kitchen on the West side, is looking for help serving a meal on Christmas. They expect to see a 1,000 people or more that day who are looking for a warm place to have a meal for the holiday.
While many people will be enjoying a traditional Christmas dinner in their own homes, these folks are happy to get a hot meal at all. Several will probably be eating in the company of strangers. Even if that is the case, Big Momma’s hopes to make these people feel like family for a day, but they can’t do it without volunteers.
If you are looking for a way to give back this year or if you are hoping to show your kids the true meaning of Christmas, check in with Big Momma’s to see how you can help. They are accepting donations, grocery store gift cards and the help of willing hands. This dinner is not just for those who are homeless. It is for anyone who struggles with getting a meal on the table Christmas day or who just doesn’t want to eat alone. If you are interested in helping at Big Momma’s this Christmas please call (502) 772-9580.
