Stop: Read This Before Pricing Your Home

Tacking on extra dollars to your home could cost you

by MIKE HALL Owner/Broker/Agent

If you're home is valued at $150,000 but you decide to price it $160,000 to see if anyone will bite, you could wind up feeling the pinch.

Selling home is more than dollars and cents. It's also about timing. And time equals money. If you're selling because of a divorce or an estate, often time pricing a home at the tippy-top of what it's worth can cost you emotional expense as well as unforseeable maintenance costs.

Selling a home for $160,000 five days after being on the market is not the equivalent of selling the home after five months. Keep that in mind when pricing your home to sell. Let an experienced agent, like me, help you determine what your home is worth.

Backyard Barbeques Buzzing with Pests?

If your outdoor feast turns into a mosquito buffet, use these tips.

by MIKE HALL, Owner/Agent/Broker

Louisville is lots of fun in the summer from cookouts to Forecastle, spending time outdoors is a must for this city.

But with time spent in nature, you also invite the bugs that bite. From mosquitos to no-see-ums, getting bit is no fun and itchy. You can help protect your backyard with a couple tricks:
1. Spray an insect repellant. You can find these at about any Louisville hardware store. Just hook it up to your hose and spray your yard. The product claims to last 60 to 90 days.

2. Use an oscillating fan. Forget the citronella candle, a good, old fan keeps mosquitos at bay better than the melting wax.

3. Keep your Louisville lawn mowed. Just having shorter grass helps fend off ticks.

Eat Like a Louisville Chef

Where the foodies of Louisville go out to eat.

by MIKE HALL Owner/Broker/Agent

Louisville and food go hand in hand like Mike Hall and real estate. I recently read an article in the Courier Journal about where some of Louisville's top chefs choose to dine here in our fair city.

One chef encouraged everyone to eat outside at Mike Linnings with a fish sandwich in one hand and a beer in the other. Other chefs went with nothing to fancy - either. Something that may echo that we all like good grub. There was some talk about beer cheese, derby pie and bibb salad. When you're a good chef, you can make a grilled cheese taste gourmet.

Check out what the chefs had to say here.
