Beckley Woods proposes to join Middletown

Beckley Woods Homeowners Interested in Middletown Services

Middletown Ky signMiddletown and Beckley Woods will offer an annexation proposal to the Louisville Metro Council. Beckley Woods residents overwhelmingly, about 97 percent, wish to become part of Middletown.

Namely, the homeowners will receive Middletown's services such as garbage pickup and snow removal paid for by a slight property tax  - 13.5 cents to every $100 of assessed value. Previously, Beckley Woods homeowners contracted for those services independently, which caused several different companies to run trucks through the subdivision.

Middletown is a great place to live and Beckley Woods joining Middletown is great news for Beckley Woods homeowners.

Bike lanes? Good for home value?

Do you think bike lanes help or hurt the neighborhood?

A hot topic for some of Louisville's council members involves two wheels and some pavement - bike lanes.

On the downside, people often get frustrated when they get behind a cyclist.  Bike lanes open up the road, but the expansion to include the bike lane could be worrisome if you're trying to sell your home.

As Louisville elevates its status as a healthy place to live, adding bike lanes where appropriate bolsters that image and makes the city attractive for people who are considering a relocation to the metro.

What do you think? Are bike lanes a positive or a negative when it comes to your neighborhood?

School Starts - Buying a Home for Schools

How did schools affect your home-buying decision?

school busI hear it all the time. Many parents buying a home consider the public schools where their children will attend.

It greatly impacts home buying decision, especially for parents sending their kids to public schools.  In Jefferson County, many schools have a good reputation and lots of parents will search high and low for the home zoned for that school.

I've had many parents move to Oldham County for the great schools out there.  Their decision to move, in fact, was largley influenced by their desire to have their children attend Oldham County schools which have a stellar background. Known as one of the best school systems in the state of Kentucky, Oldham County is not only a good place for education but also a beautiful place to raise a family.
